Les créatures de la route exposition

The Jardin Daniel A. Séguin will act as the venue for a brand new installation work by the artist duo Pépite & Josèphe. Overseen by the EXPRESSION Centre, the Creatures of the Road project will focus more specifically on old rusty automobile parts that appear on the sides of the road every spring with the melting snow. It is during a great three-day walk – from the Garden in Saint-Hyacinthe to their workshop located in Sutton – that the duo will collect these objects, evocative of ancient artefacts or even improbable prehistoric remains. , which will serve as the raw material for the installation. From images generated using artificial intelligence technologies, the artists will reconstruct “fossils” and embed them in the floors of the Garden, inviting us to dive into a fiction where monstrous creatures would have once traveled the roads of Montérégie and Estrie. This is how the duo Pépite & Josephe will transform the Jardin Daniel A. Séguin, for one season, into an intriguing archaeological site where, playing archaeologists, artists will excavate these mythical creatures from the road.
