Les paysages autres exposition
Les paysages autres exposition
The artist and curator William Jourdain, aka Automatisme, was invited by EXPRESSION to organize the group digital art exhibition Les paysages autres (Other Landscapes). For this multifaceted exhibition, Jourdain took on the mission of presenting reflections on various issues in contemporary art, manifested through the question, “How do we augment and remix the details of nature?” In response, the artists express themselves through audio and visual digital works, concerts, and talks. Les paysages autres brings together artists who work at different cultural institutions in teaching, education, philosophy, and art history, and at record stores. Most publish albums with the influential German label Mille Plateaux, which has been devoted to post-techno electronic music since the early 1990s.
Also presented at Jardin Daniel A. Séguin, William Jourdain’s installation is a dense, extensive soundscape. Generated from sound recordings captured in spring 2023 at JDAS – the very site where it would later be presented – this work will be broadcast at the same volume as that of the environment in which it is installed, but in a season different from that of the original recordings.
